Ethernet controllable LTTs in portable bench instruments
AtlanTecRF, a global RF and microwave components and equipment manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new BLR series of ethernet controllable LTTs (loop test translators) in convenient bench instruments.
With models designed for operation in both Ku and Ka bands, these portable items of satcom test kit can be easily transported to the test location and set up for either local operation or remote operation via ethernet with a GUI.
Where local control is desired, possibly in a laboratory or production line environment, the instrument features easy-to-use front panel adjustments of both LO (local oscillator) frequency and signal input attenuation with clear LCD readout of both parameters. For remote control, perhaps at a satcom transmission site, via LAN or a wireless router there is a very clear GUI for control of these paramaters on a PC.
For Ku band, as well as Ka band there is a choice of instrument in terms of the frequency conversion plan with transmit (Tx) to receive (Rx), transmit (Tx) to L-band and L-band to recieve (Rx) all being available. Standard conversion loss is 35dB nominal but 0dB loss can be achieved with the internal amplifier option.
LO frequency is selectable in 25MHz steps as standard but, again, there are options which can take this down to 1KHz steps. Frequency stability is determined by an internal OCXO at 0.005ppm over 0+50C, with the ability to switch to an external 10MHz system reference if required. The attenuation range choice includes 0-32dB in 0.25dB steps through to 0-64dB in 0.5 dB steps.
The 260 x 150 x 420 mm instruments come in a durable aluminuim, light-weight, bench mount housings with carry handles which also serve as tilt supports for very easy operation and reading of the display.
Input and output VSWR are typically 1.8:1, non-signal related spurious are -60dBc maximum and phase noise for a 27GHz LO is typically -110dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset. Coaxial RF connectors are standard but there are options for waveguide input and output where required.
