LabVIEW 2015 provides faster coding & operation

With design cycles shortening and development costs needing to be reduced, efficiency improvements need to be made wherever possible within the design cycle. These improvements need to be made while projects become more complicated as a result of higher levels of integration, more functionality being required and many other aspects like more complex RF waveforms being used.

In order to achieve these improvements, design tools need to keep pace with the increasing requirements.

To meet these needs, National Instruments, NI has updated has updated its LabVIEW graphical system design package with the introduction of LabVIEW 2015 system design software.

The latest version of LabVIEW delivers speed improvements, development shortcuts, and debugging tools to empower developers to efficiently interact with the systems they create. LabVIEW 2015 continues to standardize the way LabVIEW users interact with almost any hardware through the reuse of the same code and engineering processes across systems, saving time and money as technology advances, requirements evolve, and time-to-market pressure increases.

As described by Eric H. Starkloff , Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, two elements are needed namely for developers to be able to develop code faster, and for them to have faster LabVIEW code developed.

In fact LabVIEW 2015 shows a number of new improvements in its operation:

  • Open code faster—open large libraries up to 8X faster and eliminate prompts to locate missing module subVIs.

  • Write code faster—execute common programming tasks faster with seven new time-saving right-click plugins and develop your own additional plugins to maximize your productivity.

  • Debug code faster – examine arrays and strings in auto-scaling probe watch windows and document findings with hyperlink and hashtag support in comments.

  • Deploy code faster – offload your FPGA compilations to the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Cloud service included with your Standard Service Program membership.

These additions give users of LabVIEW 2015 significant improvements in performance and allow engineers to develop new applications faster and more effectively.

These enhancements come on top of the a release of LabVIEW that occurred earlier in the year. This release provided a tailor-made version of LabVIEW for wireless and communications systems. Called the LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite, it has been widely used by a number of companies using various wireless systems including Samsung and Nokia, amongst many others.
