Rohde & Schwarz & Prisma Telecom Test 2 Gbit/s over LTE

Rohde & Schwarz working with Prisma Telecom Testing has successfully completed verification of LTE FDD five component carrier, 5CC, aggregation in the downlink, including 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM on each carrier.

This combination allows data transfer rates up to 2 Gbit/s.

The set up used to test this scenario consisted of an R&S CMWflexx setup and a Prisma UeSIM multiterminal simulator. The R&S CMW500 generated the five component carriers with 20 MHz bandwidth and 4x4 MIMO each using the 3GPP Rel. 12 256QAM modulation.

The entire setup was able to provide a downlink data rate of close to 2 Gbit/s. The Prisma UeSIM terminated the traffic. With this successful 5CC 4x4 MIMO verification, Rohde & Schwarz and Prisma Telecom Testing have achieved another important milestone in the commercial evolution of LTE-Advanced.

The R&S CMW500, in its R&S CMWflexx configuration, and the Prisma UeSIM are the first test platforms to offer a combined downlink carrier aggregation solution for up to five 4x4 MIMO carriers and up to 2 Gbit/s throughput.
