Microwave Amplifiers Wide-Band Gallium Nitride Amplifiers

Bristol, UK, based RF and microwave company, Microwave Amplifiers, has launched two new wideband amplifiers.

The two new microwave amplifiers cover the range 20 to 500 MHz and 20 to 1000 MHz with an output of 25 watts and an efficiency level of 40%. These new amplifiers utilise Gallium Nitride, GaN, technology to achieve their performance, and offer both VHF and UHF coverage.

The use of GaN technology enables these amplifiers to provide very high efficiency levels and in turn this reduces the need to large cooling systems that might be required with more traditionally based amplifiers.

The amplifiers have been able to utilise the high voltage and low current characteristics of the GaN technology to enable matching to be more efficient. In addition to this

The amplifiers are available as DC powered modules for OEM system integration, and feature reverse power, reverse polarity and over temperature protection. Both models are also available in a Test & Measurement bench top form, ideal for a rapid proof of concept or for general laboratory use.

The wideband GaN family of products cover 20MHz to 6GHz with various output levels to 100W. All models are designed for high-end performance, with class-leading efficiency and flatness specifications.
