DC/DC converters for SiC and IGBT applications

Richardson RFPD has announced the availability and full design support capabilities of a new series of DC/DC converters rom RECOM Power (RECOM).

The RxxPxxyyD Series devices feature 6400 VDC isolation and <10 pF isolation capacitance and have been designed to fulfill the demanding requirements of high slew-rate SiC transistor drivers.

These new DC/DC converters can be used with equal power (1W + 1W) or equal current (1.6W + 0.4W) driver applications, as the dual outputs feature automatic power sharing. The internal transformer uses a pot-core to physically separate the input and output windings, however the devices still fit in industry-standard SIP7 cases. Input voltage options of 5, 12, 15 or 24 V are available, and the RxxP2xxyyD Series is safety-certified to the latest UL/IEC62368 standard (certification pending).

Additional key features of the converters include +20/-5 V and +15/-3 V asymmetric outputs for SiC driver applications, +15/-9 V asymmetric outputs for IGBT driver applications, and optional continuous short circuit protection.
