Anglia Components 40 Year Anniversary

The Anglia Components President Bill Ingram said that life begins at 40 at the 40 year anniversary of the company.

The celebration was held in the company of an invited audience of over 100 suppliers, staff and industry guests.

The 40 year anniversary celebration was held against a strong background. It had been a year in which the company had signed a distribution agreement with Analog Devices and had seen a strong increase its market share.

The company is based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in the UK, part of a region known as East Anglia from which the company takes its name. Anglia is a leading UK independent authorised distributor for a variety of electronic components ranging from semiconductors and optoelectronics to interconnect / connectors, a wide variety of passive components and electromechanical components. Anglia is a signatory of the ADS SC21 programme and holds AS9120, ISO9001, ISO14001 accreditations and IECQ-CECC qualification

Anglia Components was founded by its president, Bill Ingram in 1972 in his home. Initially Anglia was set up to address the spares market, offering immediate product availability as a result of an investment in stock for popular lines. Once established in this market, the company moved to address the industrial sector, but focussed on operations in the UK and Eire.

Since its foundation, the business has grown and now employs over 150 people and it supports a strong line card of franchises including Analog Devices and ST, two of the world’s top three analogue semiconductor manufacturers. It has a stock of over 700 million components from 500,000 product lines. It aids customer inventory by the use of KAN-BAN, EDI, and customer-dedicated inventory techniques.

Anglia has formed a series of market focussed business units: Anglia Lighting in 2007, Anglia HiRel in 2010, and Anglia Embedded which recently added Advantech, a world leading supplier of single board computers (SBCs). Steve Rawlins took over as CEO in 2006, and now manages the operation on a day to day basis.

In a speech at the event, Bill Ingram said, “I am as excited about Anglia’s prospects today as I was 40 years ago when I formed the business. Anglia’s business has grown by 40% over the last five years, posting consistently strong year on year growth despite the ups and downs of the market. We’ve a great track record of growing quicker than the industry – something that we are continuing to maintain under Steve’s leadership. It is the outstanding team that gives Anglia its future.”

He concluded, “Anglia is a great place to work and a great company to deal with as a supplier and a customer, and that is something that won’t change. I would like to thank everybody involved over the years for creating the business we see today and for reaching the 40th milestone. Well done.”
