Antenova delivers RF antenna modules to Korean black box manufacturers

Korean vehicle black box manufacturers, iTronics, AMON and UB1, have selected UK-based integrated antenna developer, Antenova's, GPS RADIONOVA RF antenna modules for use in Japanese and European vehicles.

"We have seen increasing interest in our RF antenna modules from vehicle 'black box' and other vehicle tracking device manufacturers," stated Greg McCray, CEO of Antenova. "The demand for these devices is being driven by government legislation and the insurance industry for monitoring and recording driver behavior for a variety of reasons from improving driver safety to assessing collision liability, reducing fraudulent claims and enabling pay-as-you-drive (PAYD)/usage based insurance schemes."

According to McGray, the GPS RF antenna modules provide highly accurate and reliable location information. The devices come in low profile form factors which include market leading GPS receiver ICs from CSR/SiRF and u-blox.

For example, the M10382 is a surface mount module incorporating the u-blox 6 GPS chipset with Antenova's GPS antenna, which also uses Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) technology, in a 24.2 x 9.9 x 3.8mm module.

The GPS RADIONOVA RF antenna modules include all RF front-end and receiver components with Antenova's GPS antenna. The antennas are omni-directional and are said to provide good performance regardless of the device orientation.
