The PS Domain Evolution Overview course describes the evolution of the 3GPP packet switched (PS) domain from the starting point of GPRS. The IP protocols and basic PS procedures that are common for GPRS and UMTS are described. The course accounts for UTRAN and its WCDMA-based radio interface. It also describes the all-IP architecture in IMS and later developments such as High Speed Packet Access and LTE. All topics are presented in a comprehensive – yet easily understandable – way. Essential subsystems, nodes and protocols are described. Basic traffic cases are used to demonstrate the function and architecture of the different systems.

Note:This course is a part of the 5 days GSM/UMTS/EPS System Overview course.

Pre-requisites:

Technical education and/or at least one year of technical telecom experience is recommended.
