NFVI, NFV Infrastructure

- NFVI, network functions virtualization infrastructure is that area of the network that contains hardware and software components used to run all the elements needed for the network

NFV, Network Functions Virtualisation Includes:
NFV basics     Virtualised network functions, VNF

It is not always easy to define exactly what is contained within the NFVI, Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure.

Often different vendors will have different approaches to exactly what the NFVI is

To assist in defining NFV in general and NFVI in particular, ETSI NFV Industry Specification Group is defining exactly what the NFVI is and the standards for its interfaces and operation.

NFVI basics

Although it is not totally clear what exactly may be within the boundaries of the NFVI, network virtualisation infrastructure, there are a few points that can be gleaned. Obviously whatever hosts VNFs must be part of NFVI, and so must the resources to connect among the VNFs in a service.
